Developing and maintaining Condé Nast design system
Developing and maintaining Condé Nast design system
Verso is a cross-functional web application designed to streamline and unify the digital experiences across all Condé Nast brands and markets worldwide. By providing a scalable design framework, Verso ensures visual and functional consistency while allowing flexibility for brand-specific customizations.
This system enables efficient collaboration between designers, engineers, and content teams, reducing redundancy and accelerating the development process. By leveraging shared components, standardized guidelines, and adaptable configurations, Verso empowers global brands to deliver high-quality, cohesive, and engaging user experiences across diverse platforms and audiences.
The Verso component library offers a diverse range of layouts and features, enabling brand teams to create compelling and cohesive digital experiences. Given the complexity of these components, they must accommodate a wide spectrum of requirements across multiple brands.
My role involves developing and maintaining this library of reusable UI components and assets, which supports engaging storytelling for some of the world’s most iconic brands, including Vogue, The New Yorker, Vanity Fair, WIRED, GQ, and more. The Verso library ensures a consistent visual identity, enhances efficiency, and promotes scalability across all digital products.
We prioritize comprehensive, well-structured design guidelines and documentation to ensure clarity, consistency, and accessibility in the implementation and maintenance of our design system. These guidelines serve as a strategic framework for designers, developers, and stakeholders, offering clear training, support, and best practices for design principles, patterns, and system-wide standards.
Our documentation provides in-depth insights into each component, including its usage, variations, and interactions, enabling teams to create cohesive, user-centered experiences. By establishing clear and actionable guidelines, we empower teams to maintain brand integrity, enhance efficiency, and drive scalable, high-quality digital experiences.
The Verso Design System Storefront is maintained and managed by our platform team, providing a centralized resource for designers, engineers, project managers, and other stakeholders to gain a comprehensive understanding of the Verso design system and its functionality.
The storefront serves as a definitive guide, detailing the purpose, structure, and operational framework of the design system. It offers a clear breakdown of Brand Identities (BIs), Components, and Configurations, ensuring a seamless and consistent approach to design. The primary objective of the storefront is to enhance efficiency, streamline workflows, and create a more cohesive and easily adoptable design process across teams.
As part of the Verso Design System team, we prioritize seamless collaboration between design, engineering, product, and editorial teams to ensure a unified and efficient workflow.
We facilitate regular team meetings where ideas, insights, and expertise are shared, fostering a culture of innovation and problem-solving. By leveraging the collective strengths of the team, we align on common goals and drive the creation, maintenance, and evolution of the design system. This open and inclusive environment ensures that every voice is heard and valued, promoting a more cohesive and scalable design framework.
